U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps — Fresno Battalion
About the Sea Cadets
Fresno Battalion builds young Americans ages 10–17 through hands-on naval training — teaching discipline, seamanship, and leadership that carry into every part of life.
Our Mission
Discipline today. Leadership for life.
The U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps exists to build character, instill discipline, and develop leadership in America's youth through seagoing and naval tradition. Cadets learn the same values carried by the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard for generations — and they learn them by doing.
Fresno Battalion brings that mission home to the Central Valley. Through drills, classroom instruction, and field training, cadets discover what they are capable of and earn the confidence that comes from real responsibility.
Every rank earned, every evolution completed, and every drill mastered builds on the last. Our cadets leave the program with skills, confidence, and friendships that last far beyond their final muster.
Core Values
The values we live by
Everything we do traces back to the core values of the sea services — and cadets carry them long after they age out.
Honor
We do the right thing, especially when nobody is watching. Cadets learn that integrity is the foundation of trust in any unit.
Respect
We treat shipmates, instructors, and civilians with dignity. Respect is earned through bearing and upheld through conduct.
Commitment
We show up, follow through, and finish what we start. Commitment means being counted on — at drill and in life.
Service
We put the unit before ourselves. Service to community and country is what separates cadets from spectators.
Training
Real training. Real responsibility.
Cadets train one weekend a month with the battalion, plus optional advanced trainings across the country during summer and school breaks.
Drill & Ceremony
Precision drill and ceremony teach bearing, attention to detail, and the pride of moving as one unit.
Seamanship
Knots, navigation, boat handling, and water survival — the core skills of the sea services, taught hands-on.
Physical Fitness
Physical readiness training prepares cadets for anything — from the obstacle course to the summer training ships.
Leadership
Cadets lead cadets. Advancing in rank brings real responsibility: leading squads, teaching juniors, and running evolutions.
